About This Design
On this hand painted map all the cantons, mountains and rivers are recorded. Switzerland has a total of cantons. This can be compared in the broadest sense with our German Länder, but it is more like the US. Each state has its own government, legislation, constitution and courts. The cantons’ borders are sometimes somewhat strange due to the high mountains in Switzerland, for which they have a very good recognition value. All the highest mountains in Switzerland are in the Canton of Valais. The highest is not the Matterhorn, which at meters is only 5. The Dufourseater is ranked 1st at meters.
