About This Design

A fanciful woodland fox holding foxglove flowers & foxtail grass, sitting on a log whereupon foxfire mushrooms glow. The fox’s body & tail, together with the plants, take on the shape of the italic letter “F” for “felicitous.” The edges of the paper are spotted with faux foxing, to imitate the effects of age on paper. The image is a reproduction of an original painting by Leah Palmer Preiss, executed in acrylics over a collaged background of text (scanned from an old dictionary, including the definition of “felicitous”) on 6″x 6″ canvas. One of a series of “Curiotype” paintings created for Anu Garg’s A Word A Day
