About This Design
Long before NWA, in , Arthur Holly Compton described the inelastic scattering of photons by charged particles resulting in a decrease in the energy of the photon (increase in wavelength). This became known as the Compton Effect and earned Compton the Nobel Prize for Physics. The effect is significant because it demonstrates that light cannot be explained purely as a wave phenomenon.
