It depicts an imaginary scene gathering many famous thinkers of ancient Greece, including Pythagoras, Zeno, Euclid, Archimedes, Aeschines, Epicurus, Anaximander, Empedocles, Alcibiades, Antisthenes, Xenophon, Hypatia, Parmenides, Diogenes of Sinope, Plotinus, Strabo, Zoroaster, Ptolemy, Apelles, and Protogenes, among others. Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino ( -) also known as Raphael (or Raffaello), was one of the leading Renaissance painters in Italy. Famous for his frescos and other paintings, he was also, along with with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, an architect.
