About This Design
The design was adapted from the original choral part used at the premiere of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony performed by the New York Philharmonic on May , . The concert took place at Castle Garden, located in Battery Park on the southern tip of Manhattan, and the Schiller text was sung in English by a -member chorus. All proceeds go to support the New York Philharmonic Archives in their work to preserve and make available the invaluable treasures of America’s oldest symphony orchestra founded in .
