About This Design
Though often portrayed as a medieval knight, Saint George was a late 3rd-early 4th century military tribune (martyred circa ). According to legend, George heroically killed a dragon that had been terrorizing the countryside around Silena in Libya. This particular portrayal of the warrior-saint depicts him armed as a fifteenth century medieval knight in full plate armor fighting on foot.
