About This Design
Similar to daisies and “cousin” to the Black-Eyed Susan, one of the primary defining characteristics of a coneflower is the downward draping of the petals that give it an overall silhouette reminiscent of a shuttlecock. The “eye” or crown of the flower can vary dramatically from a small, rounded button to a tall cone. Believed to have medicinal properties, the studies of the benefits of echinacea are still being conducted. There are some varieties of coneflower that are potentially becoming extinct, so folks are generally discouraged from picking or harvesting this flower from the wild. This fabulous mug pays homage to this fascinating flower.
