About This Design
This is the concept design for the focal point of a public art mural that is being made entirely through community participation. This mural has no client and is funded only through donations. I came up with this crazy idea in January and launched community events the following April where participants created all sections of the mural during hands-on activities. As of September , this part of the design is completed and installed on an exterior wall at th Avenue in downtown Olympia, WA. Small mosaic butterflies have also been created during hands-on events at no cost to participants in order to eliminate any barrier to access. Many butterflies were made by mosaic artists around the , sent to me for inclusion in this mural. The theme of the mural is Metamorphosis: personal and societal transformation, as well as a celebration of diversity and of everyone being their most authentic, fabulous selves.
